The Royal British
Columbia Museum will introduce you to the
cultural and natural history of our province.
From the NATURAL
HISTORY GALLERY highlighting BC's Coastal
Rainforests and wildlife to the MODERN HISTORY GALLERY
featuring a replica
of the stern section of Captain George Vancouver's ship
HMS Discovery (1792-1794) to the wood-block paving, turn-of-the-century
buildings and streets of the MODERN HISTORY GALLERY. The
museum also has an impressive collection of first nation art
and exhibits.
The museum also
houses the National
Geographic IMAX Theatre, this
406 seat theatre is more than 6 stories high and 70 feet wide,
up to 10 times
larger than conventional screens, filling the viewer's entire
field of vision.
The theatre gives you the most powerful and involving film experience,
bringing images to life with 12,000 watts of IMAX Digital surround
sound.
