There are plans to rebuild the Kinsol Trestle until then this trail is the bypass
route. Suitable only for hiking or mountain bikes. The start of the trail is
steep leveling off about midway. Allow at least 1 hour traveling time 1 way.
Though rugged this is an enjoyable hike though sunny moss covered trees.
Small creek and step bridge marks halfway point.
Viewing platform, northside Kinsol Trestle. Wooden walkway leads to
bottom of trestle and the river. You'll find bypass route at the bottom.
Parking and access to the northside of the Kinsol Trestle can also be
reached by Riverside Road or Mountain Road via the Koksilah Road
turn off on the Trans Canada Hwy. Mountain Road is paved the whole
way, well the last 5km's of Riverside Road is hard packed dirt/gravel.
Kinsol Trestle Bypass
Koksilah River Provincial Park, 4km down Renfrew Road, north
end Shawnigan Lake, is the bypass route for the Kinsol Trestle
section of the Trans Canada Trail just north of Shawnigan Lake.
