Trail users of this section of trail should note that this section of trail is
under development and very primary trail markers and trail development
are in place. As this is a backcountry trail, be properly prepared for
the trek. Walking time from the Haslam Creek Suspension Bridge
to Spruston Road is approximately 2½ hours one way.

This section of the Trans Canada Trail follows along part of Haslam Creek
and passes several lakes along the way (Timberland Lake, Cyrstal Lake
and McKay Lake) ending at the Nanaimo River. The final bridge crossing at Nanaimo River that will connect the Trans Canada Trail is still in development.
In the interim (depending on which way you are coming, north or south)
the Trans Canada Trail north of the Nanimo River can be accessed on the
Nanaimo River Road and south of the Nanimo River at the end of either
Spruston Road (and McKay Lake) or Timberlands Road via Highway #1.
Southern trail access, Haslam Creek Suspension Bridge. Just north of
Ladysmith, south of Nanaimo at Cassidy and the Nanaimo Airport.
Turn off Highway #1 at Timberlands Road, following the road pass the
Timberland Pub to the Rondalyn RV Resort. Turn left follow to end
of road, trail access north side of the gravel pit by the old car.
